We are continuing this effort after the very successful Tax March in large part as a way to engage the American public in the broader fight around the GOP’s tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires and Big Business and as a way to emphasize the corruption of the Trump Administration.
This is a valuable campaign to put conservative members of Congress on defense, to build support for the idea that tax reform legislation should not move forward unless Trump releases his tax returns and to build support and experience for the much larger fight against Trump’s tax plan that is on the horizon.
House Democrats filed a discharge petition to force a vote on the Presidential Tax Transparency Act (H.R. 305), a bill by Rep. Eshoo to require the sitting president and all future presidents and presidential candidates to release their three most recent tax returns. Every Democrat is expected to sign it. (190 already have.) But we'd still need 25 Republican signers to get the bill released to the floor.
